About

After years in marketing, storytelling, and strategy work with high-growth startups and some of the biggest brands in the world, I’ve gotten good enough at interviewing that friends started turning to me for job search advice. Whenever I’ve helped, the feedback I’ve received has been consistent. “This is great.” “Nobody looks at it this way.” It seems to have made a real difference for the people.

In the spring and summer of 2023, the job market was difficult. I wanted to do more to help, so I posted an offer on LinkedIn to help anyone prepare for interviews and refine their job search stories. The response was surprising. More people saw that post than any I’d ever made. I heard from people I’d never met and people I hadn’t seen in years. I had waves of calls and video chats.

I learned from every conversation I had. I got feedback on approaches and tools. Within a month, someone I advised had landed a job with renewed confidence after almost half a year in the job market.

This made me want to help more people. So the idea for this blog was born.

My career as a marketer, a storyteller and a strategist has given me a perspective that I don’t see elsewhere.

When I look, I’ve found that most online interview advice seems reasonable. The problem is, it’s almost never actionable. It’s incomplete. You can read it and nod along, but it’s difficult to understand how to apply it well to your search.

I want to change that. I want to fill the gaps and connect the dots. That will begin with helping people understand not just what I’ve seen work, but also helping them understand why. I’ve found that understanding why things play out the way they do can give you incredible power to shape them.

My goal is that, when you read this blog, you will walk away with actions to take. That you will become more curious and more confident in the interview process. I hope that, if you don’t get a job, you will feel strong enough to learn from the experience and grow quickly.

More than anything, I hope that this gives you tools to help you find and succeed in the best job of your life.
